Choir and Music

‘Rejoicing Ringers’ Handbell Choir

Under the direction of Lynda Alexander, this instrumental music ensemble uses three-octave sets of Malmark handbells and chimes.  In addition to playing in the church services, the Rejoicing Ringers have participated in events such as the church’s Christmas Party, 4th of July picnic, and the annual Bay Area Spring Ring Handbell Festival in Cupertino. In the past they presented several concerts of Handbell and Chime music at The Seventh Day Adventist Church in Palo Alto.  The handbell choir rehearses Tuesday evenings at 6:30 and we have opportunities for individual bell ringing participation. Feel free to contact the church office or Lynda Alexander, 415-710-6033 or email hitkmus@aol.com if you have questions.

Chancel Choir/Ensemble

In Lutheran spiritual tradition, faith is musical in character: joyful, expressive, and liberating. Martin Luther’s teachings were spread through popular songs, and some were his own compositions. When the whole congregation was used to just listening, he encouraged them all to sing at worship. Lutheran composers such as J.S. Bach have been important to music around the world.

At LALC, we are drawn to the rich history, variety, and practice of music, exploring different ways it can be used to enhance worship and community life. Our Director of Music and Organist, Lynda Alexander, leads the music program which includes Rejoicing Ringers, our handbell players, and the Chancel Choir.

Rejoicing Ringers rehearse each Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Chancel Choir rehearses each Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

To reach Ms. Alexander, you may email her at hitkmus@aol.com or call the church office.
